10 of the Ultimate Movie Classics of all Time

There are a lot of polls taking part over the internet, where the users of some of the most popular movie websites like IMDB vote for the best movies of all time. I have compiled a list with 20 of the best movies of all times and I recommend watching all of them:

1. The Shawshank Redemption, 1994 – The movie is set in the 1940s and in it you will follow the story of Andy Dufrense, who is imprisoned for the murder of his wife and her lover – something he was not guilty of. Once in prison, Andy finds a friend – Red and together they made one of the most spectacular escape plans ever created…

2. The Godfather, 1972 – There are many movies about the mafia in the United States, but I had never seen any other like “The Godfather. When you watch this movie you will become a part of one of the most powerful mafia families in New York and you will see the world from the eyes of the aging don of the Corleone family – Vito Corleone. The youngest son of Vito Corleone – Michael, has just returned from World War II and is on his way to start living a normal life without taking the business of his father. However, everything changes when the don is shot and Michael wages violent war against all the other families in New York…

3. The Godfather II, 1974 – The don is dead and his youngest son is leading the Corleone family. In that part of this movie you will follow Michael’s plans to expand the influence of his family all across the United States and in Cuba. Furthermore, you will see some of the earlier life of Vito Corleone in Sicily.

4. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, 1966 – The Bad is Angel Eyes – a hitman, who never misses his mark, The Good is Blondie – gunman with a strong sense of humor and The Ugly is Tuco – Mexican bandit, who is always looking for himself. The thing that gets those men together is gold treasure buried in a graveyard, but it seems that none of them wants to share any of the treasure with the others.

5.      Pulp Fiction, 1994 – The two main characters of the movie are Vincent Vega and Jules Winniefield, who happen to be hitmen hired to retrieve a stolen briefcase for their boss Marsellus  Wallace. Wallace asked Vincent to take his wife Mia for a couple of days.  Butch Coolidge is aging boxer, who is paid to lose his next fight. Although it seems that there is no connection between those people, you will find out how their lives are woven together in series of funny and bizarre accidents.

7.       12 Angry Men, 1957 – This movie will let you to see 12 court jury members deciding the faith of your girl, who is accused of murdering her father. All the action will take place in the jury room, where the faith of the young girl will become the faith of each one of the 12 jury members.

6.       Schindler’s List, 1993 – Following the life of Oscar Schindler – a German businessman, who is compelled to turn his factory in a refuge for Jews. However, it seems that Schindler’s ice cold heart turns hot and he manages to save more than 1100 Jews from being gassed at the Auschwitz concentration camp.  This movie will show that there is something good in each one of us, so we only have to find it…..

8. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, 1975 – IN this movie, the young Jack Nicholson plays the prisoner McMurphy, who decides to pretend to be mad to avoid doing work in prison. Although, this seems as pretty simple plan, everything changes when he is transferred to an asylum. There he tries to make the place better, but the lead nurse is after him on every move he makes.

9. Star Wars Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, 1980 – The rebels are forced to flee from Galactic Empire and they leave their new base on Hoth. Han Solo, Princes Leia and their droids – C-3P0 and R2-D2 escape using the damaged Millennium Falcon. However, later they are captured by Lord Darth Vader. Will Luke Skywalker manage to rescue his friends from the hands of the evil lord?

10.      Seven Samurai, 1954 – A samurai, who had seen many battles, offers protection to a village from the bandits. He finds 6 more samurais to help him and together they start teaching the village people how to defend their lands. The culmination of this movie is when the 7 samurais are engaged in a battle with 40 bandits.
