Cable television – What you should know about it?
Watching television nowadays is not as easy as it used to be. With so many options available on the market such as cable television or satellite TV, sometimes it is hard to know which one is just right for you. If you, however, are thinking about subscribing for cable television, then you should know some of the pros and cons that come with it. If you keep on reading you will find a list of both pros and cons of cable television and hopefully you will be able to make a decision whether you want cable or prefer some other type of TV.
Pros:
1. Price – If you intend to watch some very basic and local channels and don’t need more than 30, then cable television is probably the perfect solution for you since they won’t charge you a lot for just a small amount of channels. So if you don’t need that many channels, there is no point in getting satellite television for example.
2. Multiple TV sets – In case you have more than one TV set like most people nowadays, and you want to hook up every one of them with television, then cable is probably the easiest solution. Cable TV providers don’t charge customers for extra TV sets, so you can watch all your favorite programs on TV sets all over the house.
3. Free channels – Cable TV providers usually offer their customers the opportunity to watch some of the local channels for free. Satellite TV providers, however, often charge extra money for the luxury of watching the local TV channels.
4. Consistent service – The TV signal when watching cable television is rarely bad. If you for example have satellite television you will notice that almost every time it starts to rain or snow, the TV signal gets garbled, and as we all know there is nothing worse than a bad TV signal.
Cons:
1. Customer service – Cable TV providers are known for their bad customer service. When you experience a problem with your cable TV and call the company to fix it, the people at the other end of the line are rarely polite and sometimes they can’t even be bothered talking to you. This is a major downside but keep in mind that not all cable TV providers have bad customer service.
2. Fees – When getting cable television, there is often an installation fee, which you won’t have to pay if you end up choosing satellite television for example. The feeling when giving money for something that you could have for free elsewhere is not very pleasant.
3. Variety – Cable TV providers usually only offer few channels to choose from. This amount is rarely over 100. If you want a great variety of channels to choose from your best bet is on satellite television since the satellite TV providers rarely offer less than a 100 channels for you to watch.
4. DVR – DVR stand for digital video recorder and most of the time cable TV providers will charge you a monthly fee for one of those whereas satellite TV providers often will provide you with this service free of charge.
It all comes down to what you prefer, want and can afford. Cable television (in Danish the term is kabel TV) has pros but it also has cons. The difficult part is to determine which list is more important to you.

Very good Hub. Cable television companies have some of the worst customer service out of almost any industry. I have no idea why.
They also have a high amount of fees: taxes, regulatory fees, boxes, etc
